        The Home Affairs secretary has revealed there is little chance Australians stuck in northern Syria will be brought home. Mike Pezzullo told senate estimates that despite a ceasefire in the area, it is still too dangerous to remove women and children in detention camps there. The families of those stuck in Syria have pleaded with the federal government to help them get out of safely from the country.
        Police have charged a man with sexually assaulting a woman in Melbourne's north. Officers say a 32-year-old woman was walking her dog in a park on Saturday night when a man pulled out a knife, pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. A 21-year-old man has been charged with rape, false imprisonment and theft. He will appear at Melbourne magistrates court today.
        The British government has hit yet another hurdle with MPs being blocked from voting on the Brexit deal. The Commons speaker has refused to hold the vote, saying it would be 'disorderly and repetitive' to debate again. Despite this latest setback, the prime minister is putting forward draft legislation that's needed to turn the deal into British law.

        11 people have died in violent protests in Chile. A state of emergency has been declared in the capital Santiago after five people died when looters torched a factory. The unrest was sparked by a hike in public transport fares but has widened to reflect anger over living costs and inequality.
